Home remedies for cough and cold in toddlers.

As winter arrives, the risk of cough and cold increase and often out babies and toddlers get sick.

Giving medicines is important but we should always first try some home remedies to fight the general cold.

Home remedies do not cure the cold and cough but surely help prevention to get worse and feel better.

Some medications may have antibodies and antibiotics in them which somehow makes immunity system weak. So, always limit the amount of medicines you and your family intake for general cold and cough. Try remedies and medication and you will be better in no time!

I always try home remedies for before taking any antibiotics medication and it works for me everytime.

Here are 3 home remedies for cough and cold:

1. Ginger cold buster.

What you’ll need:

  • Ginger paste or grated – 1 tsp
  • Honey – 1tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1tsp

How to make it:

  1. Take a small bowl, add grated ginger, lemon and honey.
  2. Mix well and keep aside for 10 mins.
  3. Letting it rest will make all the ingredients mix well with each other.
  4. Give this to your toddler 1 TSP 3-4 times a day.

Benefits:

  • Ginger has anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties which helps with sore throats and coughs.
  • Honey has anti bacterial properties and soothes the itchiness from cough and cold.
  • Lemons have vitamin C which is good for your immune system and helps clear the phelm.

2. Camphor vapour rub.

What you’ll need:

  • Small pieces of camphor.
  • Coconut oil.

How to make it:

  1. Take a glass bowl and add coconut oil.
  2. microwave the oil for min.
  3. You can also add drops of eucalyptus oil.
  4. Add pieces of camphor and let it melt.
  5. Mix well.
  6. When it’s lukewarm rub the oil on your kid’s back and chest.

Benefits:

  • Camphor and coconut oil together form a good mixture that can be used as a vapour rub.
  • It help with the phlem in the chest and back.

3. Turmeric milk.

What you’ll need:

  • Turmeric powder -1/2 TSP
  • Milk – 1/2 cup

How to make it:

  1. Take a vessel, add turmeric powder and milk and mix well.
  2. Bring it to boil and let it rest.
  3. Give this to your child 2 times a day.

Benefits:

  • Turmeric have anti biotic properties and healing properties.
  • Turmeric is one the best ingredients for any home remedies.
  • Every should use turmeric everyday.
