Sometimes, when you look at your child, and think, how did I get this far? How am I this person who has all her priorities changed?
Suddenly, You feel all grown up and feel more responsible as an adult. Sometimes though, you do miss the carefree teenage and young adult phase. And I think it’s totally normal!
But you couldn’t have asked God for anything else what you have right now because these little humans change our lives in a better way. And in my experience, the best way.
So, here’s the list how I think and feel motherhood has made me a better person:
1. More patience
This is the first thing I saw in changing. I was patient not only with my son but with other aspects of life.
I have more empathy towards others and their situation. I have started not to judge quickly as to give time to others’ situations and feelings. Last couple of years, my son has put me in certain situations, where I wanted people to understand my situation and be patient with me.
3. I smile and laugh more.
After becoming a mother, not only with my son, I have started smiling and laughing more. Life is brighter and happier after having a little human in my life.
4. More responsible.
Don’t you feel you are more responsible than you have ever been in your life? Like God has made you in charge of another human’s life and well being. That’s the biggest responsibility ever! And I think every parent is going it the best way they can.
5. Better teacher.
Every Parent is a Teacher. No matter what career path you choose, you will always be a teacher, because that’s what parenting is. You have to go all in, actively investing your time and effort to educate your children on what it means to be a mature adult
Making a baby, toddler or kid eat is a big task. To keep them entertained with new things and games, one has to be creative.
7. More attentive.
Being an attentive mom doesn’t mean that you are engaging your children every moment. It does mean that when your children need your full attention, you give it to them.
8. Unconditional love.
I thought I loved my parents and my husband unconditionally. Until my son came to my life. I felt, this is what unconditional love is. It’s a warm feeling inside your chest and it makes you feel happy.
9. Keeps me grounded.
Every now and then there is some incident in day to day life that gives me a reality check about raising a child. Managing a home and family life altogether. It keeps me grounded and my negative emotions in check.
10. Motivates me to do better.
I want to be successful in life, professionally and personally. This is something any human wants. After having a child it’s a reminder to work towards my life goals and keep going as we all want to give the best life all the children deserve.
